Chippenham-Calne cycle path under threat

10 March 19 – Litter Picking the Lanes

Members of Transition Corsham were out on the Lanes between Corsham and Chippenham on 10th March, litter picking. Easton lane and the road from the Thingley crossroads at the A4 to Lacock have suffered in recent years from persistent littering. Easton Lane is currently closed to traffic due to the Hunters Moon development so its an ideal traffic free litter picking target. The other lanes have wide verges and are also safe to pick. Give and Take Success

Thank you to one and all, for your brilliant efforts to enable Give and Take in Box to be a great success. Masses of stuff arrived and went out again along with crowds of people. We took £70 in donations to cover costs of Hall hire and printing, and £52 from selling leftover items. The GIVE AND TAKE event works because so many people help to carry tables, set up the stalls, keep order and then dismantle and ship unwanted items away to charity shops and recycling. Wiltshire Council declare a Climate Emergency

Wiltshire Council, a Unitary Authority, declared a Climate Emergency yesterday after more than an hour of debate The Executive had initially turned down the proposition of going carbon neutral by 2030, but the motion was eventually passed by 36 to 32 with lots of abstentions. The campaign was led by the Lib Dems who have 20 seats on the Council, compared to the Conservatives 68.
